Fate: Shot by John Morrisey associate Lew Baker at the Stanwix Bar on Broadway. Poole died of his wounds just days later in his home on Christopher St.
Fast fact: The character William Cutting from the motion picture Gangs Of New York was loosely based on William Poole.
